A little background: Most Arabs are Sunni. Only in Iraq are they a minority. In Iraq the technical and professional classes are mostly Sunni. In general, Sunni in Iraq are more "modern" and secular than the Shia. The Shia, in general, follow their traditional religious leaders.

If the "plan" is followed to completion, we will have swapped a secular dictatorship for a Shia theocracy with close ties to Iran.

Is that success?

I agree, I don't believe anything will change their beliefs or religion...Once we do pull out, it will go back to the way it was....
