Are they like a franchise where one can find a location, work with the state to get approved, and then run the business?

They are not a franchise, they are owned by the state in Washington. The stores are assigned to areas by population so if an area grows and grows they may put in another store in that area to reduce crowding at the other stores.

It is quite the process. At one time, two of my Great Aunts were both in the process for the same store (it was up for sale). There is a bunch of paperwork, and an interview with the state before they choose the next owner. The Aunt who isn't an alcaholic got the store, but then she backed out for financial reasons, and someone completely different got it.

Okay, who wants to draw up the initiative that cuts off WSLCB's nuts so we can buy booze in a grocery store for market price like in a civilized state? Irie- Let's compare notes. You can get that Sierra Nevada Celebration ale that Brewer mentioned on the abyss thread for about $4.99 on sale to $6.99 a six pack. JerryGarcia's hugantic Patron is $89.99/bottle. I have no idea what bud/coors sells for. What are your costs there?

Safeway $9.99/six pack for Celebration Patron Silver is $99.99/for the 1.75L bottle and $49.95 for the .750L "fifth" and the Patron Gran Platinum is $189.00/ for the .750L "fifth" WSLCB Price List Oh, BTW--WSLCB has a new habit of sending armed agents in SWAT gear to places like Lakefair. To walk around and make sure no one's bootlegging I guess.....

That's why Raley's sells Moose Drool for $8.99/six pack - It comes all the way from Montana. Longs' drugstore sells it for $5.99/six pack 'cause they're on the east side of town and much closer.... As for the swat guys - they're there to "pop a cold one"
