very nice rods, i've owned a few. the last generation(with EC model prefix) used gloss finished XMG blanks.
I've got a busted guide on my S90MC-T that i need to fix. probably my favorite steelhead rod.

Joe, Not sure when they stopped making them, but the Esprit was Lami's premium rod series for years. A classic, for sure. They were very nice rods, and expensive for their day. Esprits were gradually supplanted by their Cert Pro and XMG series. I don't recall "a summer run" rod in Esprit series. ( SZ's got me here.) CP expanded more into that area with a wider selection of medium and lighter action rods designed for specific applications. I have a few Esprits and although they were pretty rods they have been surpassed in performance, materials and of course, price as well. If you want the cosmetics and feel of your Esprit in a higher performance lighter weight rod, you could easily have a custom rod made to look identical for far less than a premium series equivalent of the Esprit today. The one little thing I loved about the Esprit was their trigger, which was flatter and slightly longer than triggers available today. The Esprit's did have a nice feel for sure.

What Mooch said! The "original" Esprits (were IMO) Lami's answer to the G-Loomis "IM6" fad of the mid 80's. In 1990 I bought a 8'6" medium esprit with a 251 on it at pawn shop in Everett ($80 bucks). What a summer run rod!!! The rod was finally destroyed beyong repair 2 years ago. Lamiglas treated me right and with a little extra dough I got the same rod in a CP. I really miss the old rod though.

The best thing about my "pawn shop deal" was I sold the 251 for $50.00 at the time. I'm a rightie, so I put one of my 250's on it. And yes A-D, those 2200's were sweet with the 6:0 ratio. I still have a couple but they have the "fighting star drag" which is ugly and useless IMO. Loved to fish both types of reels direct drive back in the day. I'm limping my last 250 along as a plug reel, but really the drag is shot. But I still love the feel of it.
