So last night I was taking out the garbage when the 100 year old cherry tree in my driveway fell down. The tree had been made lop-sided when the shop was built and finally gave her up last night at 9:30.

It is a really old and dense cherry tree, it is going to take me a lot of effort to buck it up.

I am just putting my feelers out to see if there is anyone who would want some of the wood for anything before I start cutting it up. Or even better would like to pick it up. It is about 3' diameter at the base, but gnarly with big bulbous growths and thick bark. Currently it is covered in ivy.

I have contacted some friends who are in the timber/milling game to see if they are interested.

Great for the smoker but too far for me.

I have a co-worker who is a serious wood worker. He collects specialty wood locally and mills it and dries it for future projects. I'll ask him if he's interested.

Thanks. I think I have found a place for it already, but will know for sure by tomorrow afternoon. It is a local guy who cuts those slab pieces and sells them to places like Urban Hardwoods.
