Going out Sunday morning out of Shilshole for the first time in a few weeks. Only caught humpies at Meadow Point last time. I'm happy to hunt around, and will probably be out in the shipping lanes anyway, but I wonder what's the best recommendation for coho. Any reports?

Very slow for me yesterday. Fished the AM low slack at West Point out to SG bouy. Lots of fish deep on the sounder but a very poor bite. The few I saw caught were 3-5# and may have been Humpy's.

Maybe I should have said Meadow Point, West Point, Jeff Head, Edmonds, or Possession! Edmonds and Shilshole are equidistant for me. The $10 launch fee for Shilshole seems a bit much, bit it's nothing compared to the sling and parking fee at Edmonds. But I'll go where the fish are.

Good luck to everyone fishing the Edmonds Derby on Saturday. My Saturday is a little booked with football - first NW Junior Football game for my 13 year old at 9, snagged a ticket to the 12:30 Huskies game, and an unusual 7 pm Saturday high school football game for my 16 year old. Be sure to post reports so that those of us going out Sunday will know if there are any fish left after the Derby!

Went out yesterday and got 4 coho around N Browns bay/Picnic Point. Fish Ranger is 4-4 right now around Edmonds

Yes. There are fish in all the spots mentioned. Just stick with what you know how to do and you'll end p tagging a few fish.

West Point was slow by our standards, but we still scratched out 2 cohos, 1 mid-teens king and one good drive by. Also ran by Gilly who yet again accused me of fishing for pinks! We were just playing through, Matt! wink

All those areas will have fish.

We tried Meadow Point and West Point this morning with no luck. Only one takedown that we missed and only saw a couple nets all day and what we saw looked more like humpies although the fish checker said there were more coho than pinks brought in.

Anybody out at West Point when the freighter came through and put off a 4-5' triple wave that was cresting at the top. At least it added a little excitement to the morning.

There seemed to be a lot of bait at Jeff Head on Friday, and I saw some real big coho finning but I couldn't get them to hit, and only got one good fish on that I lost after less than 30 seconds. Tons of shakers, including blackmouth shakers we were catching at 1:00 fishing 32' down in 100+ feet of water.

Possession was completely dead. Very short bite and very few fish that I saw.

Where else can you launch on puget sound for less than $10.00.? Shilshole has adequate parking for the pressure. Just wish that the parks dept. would pressure wash the ramp at low tide to make it easier for those of us without 4 wheel to pull out. Keeping the bathrooms open would also be nice. I talked to Bud's baits about selling fresh herring at the shilshole ramp. He said he didn't know if there was a demand. The frozen herring they sell at 7-11 works, but could be better quality.

If $10.00 is breaking the bank, you might consider an annual pass for something like $135.00 . If you fish enough ... or you could get a job wink

The only time I ever knew I was going to die in a boat was at West Point. A tug came through and pushed about a 10' wave. As we went up it started to break. I was terrified for 1/10th of a second, I was certain we were going over. The boat pilot cranked it hard to starboard as we hit the top and somehow we went over it. I have never been that scared on a boat before nor since and like I said it was only for a fraction of a second. I really didn't know you could [censored] that much that fast.

PS you don't have to pay to launch your boat, just to park ...

Annual launch fee is 150.00 and I pay it because fifeteen trips during the season really is not that many. Also the convenience factor of not waiting for a receipt to park at four in the morning.

Check the city parks web site, the fee is to use the ramp lanes regardless of where you park. It is enforced by issuing tickets to vehicles with trailers without the permit in the city parking areas and on nearby streets. It is not enforced on a predictable basis but I have heard many complaints from people parked on the street who have been cited. Like tjcarroll I buy the $150 permit and easily used my 15 launches by mid August, at Magnuson and Shilshole (Eddie Vine).

Hey, I was just trying to help out the cheap dude wink $10 bucks ain't that bad.

I was certainly planning to get the annual permit once again this year. Then I figured I might as well get moorage in Edmonds for $180 per month. That has worked out fantastic. I have probably fished 50+ days since 11 June. Would have been a lot tougher trailering to Shilshole everyday.
