Nice first post Dave #1 After seeing that stand, if I were a razor clam, I'd be nervous.

I prefer my coleman propane lantern for digging this time of year/season. the heat from the lantern can help warm your hands. They can get cold digging at night. warmth always made my daughters feel better, digging rzrs at night time.

I have always done the get there before dark thing. But the mid December tides are at 7:30. Dunno if we can get a limits before dark then or not. My buddy Rawleigh and I once dug, not sissy, vagina tubed, limits in 18 minutes.

GDMT... I have camped at the beach for each of the digs so far and have yet to dig a clam... first two times had my boys in tow and they didn't want to fight the rain and wind ...this time I'm flying solo and I'm gonna dig something - even if it is only empty holes!!!

LOL. I wouldn't worry about it Piper. I don't know how many times I have skipped a dig because I was worried about the weather only to get reports that it was "easy diggin'". NOAA is a broad brush prediction, and from a micro-climate perspective are often wrong in both directions. The beauty of Razor Clam managment by WDFW is that the openers are spread out and so the clams are almost always there. You may need to spend some effort, but if it was always easy it wouldn't be as fun. Speaking of lantern holders, I just found my new Clam-Bag belt.

Bought one of these wire mesh lantern globes a few years back and haven't had to worry about the broken glass thing since. You lose a little bit of light as compared to glass, but more than functional for anything you need to do in the dark.

I've used it in somewhat windy/gusty conditions with no problems. A steady wind stronger than say 10-15 knots would likely be problematic.

REALLY should have gone tonight but work wiped me out. Tomorrow night....perhaps. All beaches will be open then too. Just saw the TV weather.....tomorrow night through the weekend, wet and windy on the coast. Should just say "screw it" and go!

Looking a little better today.... operative word "little".
Sat: S wind 25 to 35 kt...easing in the afternoon. Combined seas 10 to 13 ft with a dominant period of 9 seconds. Rain.
Sat Night: S wind 15 to 25 kt. Wind waves 2 to 4 ft. W swell building to 15 ft at 13 seconds. Rain.
