I bought my Dad a symetre 2000 for fishing salmon off the beaches of Whidbey Isle. Its perfect for silvers/ humpies. I bought it after I purchased a Stradic 4000 and wished I had the 2000. The 2000 would be a great fit for float fishing. I use the Stradic 4000 for steelies all winter long with my jig rod, definately would go smaller if I had the choice again. Just my opinion after using comparable sizes.
