I was trying to help our local "should have retired years ago" worker on a problem with her computer. After much wrangling back and forth SHE came to the conclusion that she didn't have a keyboard. Of course she did, but when I asked her about "the thing you put your fingers on to type the letters into the computer" she was sure that she didn't have one.
While I was working at a tech support number for a local graphics software company we fielded an email from a VP of advertising for the NBA who was PISSED that every time he had to reinstall in operating system (he had a bunch of Macs) that he had to buy a new license of our product, as the number wasn't saved in the preferences file that he had backed up. He claimed that he had bought dozens of licenses because of this and he was SURE that we did it on purpose so that people would have to buy more copies each time. Of course he must have missed the part where the serial number that he needed was on the back of the manual (he would have had to find it to install it the first time), and if he would have done the free software registration that we would have the serial numbers on-hand for him.
Must be nice to have that kind of money at hand.
**adding another one**
As I'm replacing the monitor for a local: "Am I going to lose the data that I have stored in there?"
They must own an iMac.
