I think you did just fine...not that you need me or anyone else to tell you that.

Jeez, we've had a week long multi-page thread about people going off half-cocked when they didn't know the rules...it didn't make sense then, and it still doesn't make sense to do so.

I for one make durn sure that I know the rules on rivers I fish...but wild fish retention is a bit different, especially since I wouldn't keep one either way, legal or not.

I personally think that it's a good idea to let people in on the secret if they are thinking about retaining a nate, especially in non-retention areas...but there's no sense in making an ass of yourself when you do it.

Now you know the rule on the Kalama, so next time, god forbid there is a next time, some dumb@ss bonks a nate there, you can choose how you'll deal with him or her, or not.
