STh20:

I have met your son and am pulling for him all I can. He is a way kewl guy.
Is he still big on all the superheroes?

You are 100% right that the religious right which drives much of Bush's policy is holding up research that might make you son's life so much better and might save untold lives. There is nothing funny about that. And I sure would never make light of that.

I was making the point that as a nation we seem to struggle along okay no matter what. Thank God for our checks and balances. I was also thinking about the fact that so often my state goes the opposite direction as my vote.

Last time, I voted for the man who got the most votes - Al Gore- and my state's electoral college did as well, yet Bush became president. Other times I have voted for the man who ultimately won Richard Nixon the first time, and my state electoral college went for the democrat. Makes me wonder how important my vote was.

I do think we need a system that awards the election to the man with the most votes.
