Here’s a fishing-related report from down by Mt. Hood that was shared with me personally, earlier this year. The Salmon River referred to is the tributary of the Sandy; the golf course is on the east side of the highway by Welches. I removed the witnesses names don’t believe this was ever reported to the various online databases:

“Sorry it's taken so long. I'm not positive what exact year it was but sometime between 1983 & 1986. I used to fish the Salmon for summer steelhead at least a couple times a week during October and November. My son was about 7 or 8 years old and I would take him all the time to teach him to play fish I hooked and release them properly. We normally fished from just above the golf course and down to just above Wildwood Park. There was a stretch along the golf course that we normally fished from the opposite side of the river by accessing some private property we had permission from. On this particular day someone was parked at the private spot so I decided to try and walk in along one of the fairways on the golf course that was accessible from just off the road. we hadn't been in that way before so we weren't sure exactly where we would meet up with the river. As we were walking along the fairway it started to meet up with the north side of the river and we were getting ready to leave the path and head towards the river. About 60 yards in front of us coming out of the forested river bank onto the side of the fairway we both see at the same time some weird looking type of animal I had never seen before or since. It was slowly running across the fairway away from us but it never looked back our way. I don't think it knew we were there. We watched it cross the fairway and disappear into some trees. My first thought was what the hell is that. It had really long arms and when it "jogged across in front of us it would alternately be moving on just it's feet in a hunched over posture and at times it would also use it's hands on the ground. It had light brown reddish hair/fur and looked a lot like a big orangutan. Even when it was hunched over it looked to be about 5 foot high and the couple times it straightened up it looked to be close to 6-1/2- 7 foot tall. We didn't get a look at it's face because it was moving across and away from us. My son asked me what it was and I told him maybe someone had a big old pet Orangutan even I didn't believe it myself. Back then I hadn't heard of Bigfoot so it never crossed my mind. The frustrating thing to me at the time is that I'm a prove it to me kind of guy and I had no explanation for what I saw. In turn my son and I never really mentioned it again until a couple years ago when we were in our annual deer camp over near Rock Creek Reservoir....

...A couple things to add to the "sighting on the Salmon". There wasn't anyone else around that we could see. It was just after daylight and no one had been golfing yet at least not in this area. We got a very good look at this thing because most of what we saw happened right on the fairway which was completely wide open. Even though we couldn't explain the sighting it didn't really freak us out or anything. Probably because it was going away from us. We decide to head down the bank right where we were instead of further up where we saw it come out though. Didn't think about it much after that.”
