Before more posts of the above nature are offered, I feel a little obligated to share a few more details. If anyone accuses me of offering these details in an effort to show how far a few feet made it into their respective mouths, you'd be right. But its only half the motivation to elaborate.

First, my girlfriends pregnancy was not "my" mistake (or lack of precaution)

Second. I am not dreading the idea of being a "father"
Its a role I hadnt quite lived up to in the past due to divorce and I am eager for another chance. My age is the concern. My sacrifice of time/money/freedom/fishing is another. Although minor.

My "girlfriend" and I have known each other for about 2 months. Ive never believed in the idea that when the right two people meet: a spark can = blazing fire in short order. But since we've been "together" its become a reality. This is the gal for me and I am the man for her. No question (yet)

The truth is, I am not the paternal father of the child she is carrying. (boom)

But I am considering accepting the role of "dad" at her request.
I love kids. Children are my only connection to my own youth and I cant think of anything more "noble" to do than "man up" and accept this child as my own because in my mind, the return will be well worth the investment. This kid needs a father. Mom needs me too. And no, nothing is on paper and the paternal father will be listed on the birth cert.

Maybe some of you will understand my scotch-contemplation. The first half of the bottle would absolutely be celebratory.

I am happy to be in the position I am in. But I cant lie and say I dont feel like I just split a pair of 7s with a jack showing.
