Sorry to burst your bubble Illy, but pollution free energy from waste incinerators is just as much an illusion as the thought by some that wind and solar will solve our energy problems. Skagit County bought a state of the art incinerator in the late 1980s to reduce landfill waste and recover energy. Scrubbers be damned, but it ended up being shut down because it couldn't meet state air quality standards. A $17,000,000 experiment that didn't work.

Sadly, because Americans, IMO, avoid math and science, act as though adding 2+2=5. On one hand we have conservatives who believe we can have it both ways, that there is no shortage of energy resources and that the attendant pollution risks are manageable and acceptable (so long as they don't have to live downwind or drink the water), and on the other are green liberals who must believe in spontaneous energy generation, neither of whom can perform basic math or chemistry.
