I personally love Fish-on rod holders. The only thing I dont like about them is that they are long so I will modify them a bit. From memory I think a stock Fish On is about 5inches long from the reel seat to the front of the holder. I will measure from the tip about 3.5 to 4 inches back and make a mark on the top of the rod holder. on the bottom I will measure and inch shorter than the top from. I then take the hacksaw and make a diagonal cut. The end result is a rod holder that is short enough I can grab the Cork above the reel when I need to set the hook. Cutting it gives you a little more room for side to side error when you pull the rod out. It allowing you to get the rod out faster. The rod stays put just as well in the shortened version as the long version.
