Bent - OSU had 28 consecutive losing seasons, the last couple under Riley, before he left to coach in the NFL. Erickson came in and went to a bowl game his first year, then followed that up with the 11-1 (only loss coming on a wide right fg to UW) run that ended up with a clownstomping on Notre Lame (41-9) A win which gave OSU the first BCS bowl win of any school in Oregon
Erickson left, Riley came back and managed a 9 win season sandwiched between seasons of mediocrity and outright shitshows.
