I moved here in 1968....beaches were open "lots". I not really sure they were ever closed......day dig, night digs.....just not many people digging per tide, because of the wide openings of days to dig.


Yeah, when I first moved here (1978) you could go whenever you liked. Limit was 1st 15, but comm. licenses were available. I know of comm. crabbers that would buy a comm. license and harvest clams for bait. There are more people now, but # of digs and amounts of clams have been good for us until this shutdown.
