A number of years ago, I had picked up some BuzzBombs, and some special hooks that I've been using every since with them. I'm running out, can't find them anywhere, and am wondering if anybody knows what they are and where to find them. They are perfect for single barbless use with a BuzzBomb. The special feature is that they have a closed eye at right angles to the shank, so with a snell knot, the eye lies flat against the bumper. I've attached a photo for reference.

Take a Mustad Stainless Octopus style hook and bend the eye.

it's a hook offered by Buzz Bomb that was custom bent for them by Wright & McGill. It's still offered in a 3/0 size and called a Zzing-L hook.

Joe, I'll explain it to you later...now go have a glass of warm milk, go stand in front of the mirror, and keep saying "I'm OK, it'll be all right. I'm OK, it'll be all right."
If anyone's interested, I have a killer way to rig up legal with barbless hooks for fishing buzz bombs...anyone who's fished in the salt with me over the past three weeks has seen just how great it works.
Fish on...
Todd

Me me me !! I am interested. I was toying with the idea of tying tandem single-point hooks... but I am open to other (hopefully more effective) ideas.

Let me put a couple together and take some pics...the hookup/land ratio has been very good...not perfect, but waaaayy better than with other single barbless rigs.
Fish on...

Considering you caught all your fish on my rods, reels, lures, and hooks, I think that's a good move Hopefully next week we can get a few on the damn flyrods! Here's the setup... First, the parts...a barrel swivel, split ring, and two 1/0 sickle siwash hooks. Second, put the swivel on the split ring, de-barb the hooks, and put them on the split ring back-to-back... Lastly, slip the BB on the line, put on the rubber bumper, and tie onto the swivel...make sure you push the bumper down over the knot to keep it from getting frayed by the buzz bomb. That's it...pretty simple, and damned effective. A final note, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, "yes", it does matter if you use the sickle siwash hooks...period. Anyone who is still using a round bend siwash on barbless single hook configurations is really missing and/or losing fish that they should not be...and I don't care how expensive the Owner round bend siwash is, or how much you bend around the tip of the Gamakatsu round bend siwash...these sickle siwash hooks flat out kick their butts on hookup/land ratios right out of the bag, no bending required. Fish on... Todd

NWP,
We have Sickle Octopus hooks, too, but as of now we only sell them in our six inch worm packs...look for that to change soon as we beef up our supply, including hook sizes up to 5/0. Some of our testers who have been using them on mooching leaders have been very pleased with them, and I've been using them exclusively for a year on all my driftfishing rigs.
Fish on...
Todd

P.S. Another one of the guys using these in the salt has been carefully bending the 3/0 Sickle Siwash hook eyes, essentially converting them into octopus hooks, and using them with his hootchie trolling rigs.
I wouldn't recommend bending the smaller sizes like that, as you'll likely break a lot of hooks, but the wire diameter on the 3/0 is large enough that it can be done, albeit carefully.
