I think if Jason lived in Portland he'd feel different, but the voters and powers that be don't have the nerve to stand up because they are scared and worried about the next election. Not a world. was raised in either. My introduction to Portland was during the Watts riots and my parents and i must have ended up around MLK and the police told us to get out of their soon.
