I agree with RT on his rod theory. Once you go above a GL3 or Certified Pro, the little improvement in sensitivity for the extreme rise in cost doesn't add up. I am interested in trying either an Allstar or Rainshadow rod one of these days. For reels, however, I will disagree with the $125 benchmark. By far, the best reel I have ever used is the Shimano Chronarch SuperFree. WOW!! I will be selling a couple of Calcutta's soon to move my other setup's up to the SF. For the money, a very good reel can be had for less than $125. An awful lot of guys on this board run the Shimano Curado. Good reel, great line capacity, but something about it just doesn't do it for me.
