Business 101: When trying to build a customer base, or get a fledgling company up and running, The LAST thing you want to do is alienate any potential customers. Let the product stand on it's own merit. Resist the temptation to lash out at those with dissenting opinions. Learn from negative feedback. And finally, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!
