No, I have never straightened or broken a hook on fish - when fishing properly.

I have bent out Gammy EWG's on fish. Not to the point of straightened, but pretty messed up. I'll probably give Owner a shot, as I'm starting to not like the EWG's.

I have had the honour to bust/straighten out a few hooks on fish, while doing stupid stuff, though. IE, using a ligh-wire jig hook for steelhead. Bad mistake.

Hooks, when used and fished properly, should not bend out or break on a fish.

Keyword being "properly". I think most people that have issues with hooks are doing whacky stuff. IE 80lb Power Pro while using a #4 hook.
