The "best friend " is code for a lot of dyfunctional issues in the marriage. The most common result of this term is it was more comfortable to settle on this description than to deal with the issues. It shifts the purpose of the union away from the traditional relationship roles of marriage.

Congrats on the 30 years, seriously that is something to be proud of. I fished with 4 guys from Minnestoa at Hakai pass years ago. They where the funniest 4 guys I have met in a while. The acted more like Canadians with their carefree attitude. They called it MinnnsooooooootA. Anyhow we where five days into the trip before we realized one of them was a woman and was married to one of the guys. An off color joke by one of the guests drew a Hey watch how you are talking to my wife from one of the guys. You could have heard a pin drop in the lodge. She could fish and drink beer just like a dude.
