I have fished post shimano GLX's hard the last few winters and have had nothing but good experiences. I have a 1084 IMX that is post Shimano as well and it has been a great rod as well. To answer you question I think that you could call Loomis and match up the serial numbers with te pre and post shimano numbers. It is funny how loyal and particular some of us get to a rod manufacturer. I guess it depends on what you consider important in your gear.-TBJ
