You can tell them that you grow it for medical reasons, and keep loaded guns around at the ready, to make sure no one robs you. Test that for a legal rationale and see if it washes.

People with terminal diseases, or have a doctors prescription, are the only ones that can grab a break with Pot laws as they stand now. FYI, people convicted of drug offenses are not allowed to own guns.
