Coward Alex Jones Scrubs Mentions Of ‘PizzaGate’ From InfoWars After Feds Tie Him To Shooter

Federal authorities have specifically cited a video by professional lunatic Alex Jones as being among the materials that inspired Edgar Maddison Welch to open fire at a Washington, D.C. pizza restaurant with an assault rifle earlier this month.

Based on deliberate misreadings of stolen emails published by Wikileaks, Jones had claimed that Comet Ping Pong hosts a sadistic child sex trafficking ring on behalf of Hillary Clinton and John Podesta.

Now, much of the content related to ‘Pizzagate’ is being scrubbed from his website.

According to the criminal complaint, Welch shared a video by Alex Jones as he tried to recruit other people to “investigate” the deranged conspiracy theory. “Shortly after 8:00 PM on December 1, 2016,” the date on which Welch began planning his attack, he “sent a text message to a friend, ‘B.’ The text message to B. included and internet link to a YouTube video,” the complain says. “The text message also included the note, ‘Watch PIZZAGATE: The Bigger Picture on YouTube.'”

Presented by InfoWars, the Alex Jones website, the video tells viewers that the word “pizza” in stolen Democratic Party emails is a code word for pedophilia. There is of course no evidence for this false assertion. The “tunnels” under the restaurant, where all of this horrible abuse supposedly takes place, simply do not exist. Welch is hardly the only Alex Jones fan to act out against Comet Ping Pong and neighboring businesses, which still receive dozens of irate calls every day and visitors demanding to see their nonexistent basement level.

But when he entered Comet Ping Pong with an AR-15, then shot out a lock in order to access a room of the restaurant during his “self-investigation,” Welch became the first person to risk public order and safety over Jones’ fantastical ravings about Pizzagate.

In an unusual interview after his arrest, Welch admitted to a New York Times reporter that Jones was “a bit eccentric.” Displaying none of the credulous stupidity that got him in trouble, Welch said that Jones “touches on some issues that are viable but goes off the deep end on some things.” Famous for labeling every mass shooting event as a “false flag” conspiracy, this time Alex Jones seems to have realized he is the one waving a fraudulent banner.

At Media Matters, Eric Hananoki reports that material related to Pizzagate is being disappeared down the memory hole.

Jones and Infowars appear to be scrubbing commentary about pizzagate. Jones’ YouTube channel posted a November 23 video headlined “Pizzagate Is Real: Something Is Going On, But What?” The video has since“been removed by the user,” though it’s not clear when.

The video has been re-uploaded or re-upped by other toxic conspiracy theorists (some of whom speculated about why Jones deleted it). During the video, Jon Bowne states that Clinton allies are “using a code to communicate child sex trafficking as casually as ordering a pizza.” The video then states that Comet Ping Pong “may be competing for the lucrative Washington, D.C., pedophile market right out in the open.”

Jones promoted the video on his Facebook account but has since deleted the post. Infowars also deleted a November 27 article by Bowne that promoted the video.
Despite all his bluster, Alex Jones is a coward who refuses to admit responsibility for deranging and misinforming his fans.
