Kinda in the way that Trump thinks he is a Mafioso Don, and his family is the Cosa Nostra...only actually a two bit conman and a family of two bit criminals...Liddy was just about the most incompetent "master spy" ever to pretend to be a player.

His incompetence led to the eventual resignation of Richard Nixon, because Liddy couldn't even plan a burglary or plant a bug without fuckin it up, royally.

This, of course, made him a perfect right wing talking head, because bungling felons always find a home there lol.

He was an interesting character, at least, for a failed criminal.
