BBVD - All right, I'll bite. I am against this war, don't know if I have any excuses, but I do have some reasons. Before I give them out however, one thing needs to be said - Whether or not I post something on Piscatorial Pursuits, whether I take to the streets protesting or waving flags in a Support the Troops rally, it really does not matter and it certainly will not influence the course of this war. Events have been set in motion and will continue to their logical end. My crystal ball is foggy on what that logical end is, I do believe a US military victory will be part of the picture. I wish that this was the cakewalk that was presented to us at the beginning. But one thing that I should have remembered. If you kick the door down on your neighbors house and go in without invitation, bad things may happen. Enough of that, here are my reasons:

1. There are greater threats to the US Security than Iraq. In my belief and in the order that I prioritize them is:

Al Queda or other terrorist groups that I have not heard of yet.
North Korea
Iran
Pakistan
The state of our economy and the incredibly high deficits we are beginning to run up.
Hatchery fish (just kidding)
Iraq

I believe that the United States is like any other entity be it business or government. We need to prioritize and deploy limited resources. I believe we have the wrong priority and the fact that we are deploying resources to Iraq, leaves us less secure.

2. I am very concerned the way we started this war. If we can step into the shoes of the Iraqi citizens (I don't know if I've got nearly the knowledge to do this!), one thing becomes clear. We have in fact pulled a Pearl Harbor on them. I was not alive then, but in talking with my folks and reading history, the attack on Pearl Harbor inspired significant resolve and drive in the American people. If only 10% of the Iraqi people feel this way, we are in for a long and difficult war and/or peace. This supports point #1 - I don't think we have prioritized properly.

I've got to get some breakfast and go to work. Yes, I'm against this war, yes, I love to fish, yes, I work. BBVD, I'm fairly certain that no one who disagrees with me will change their minds based on what I've written. All I can hope for is maybe some reasoned thought and reflection.
