Pretty pathetic what this place has become.

ALL the good ones have quit this place long ago.

Dos Muchos, wise words!

I was just outside as I started loading the pickup for this upcoming weekend of deer season, and I closed the tailgate (not slammed) and immediately a bull cracked off a bugle very clsoe by! Hearing things like that sure puts things in perspective, a good perspective!

The yard elk have been going crazy for the last week, as they really started acting up at my place last Thursday night. There have been 4 bulls around the place quite often as soon as it's dark.

Monday morning I finished my conference call at 5:15 and I kept hearing "something" outside, but was ignoring the disturbance (I thought it was the kid or wife listening to a pod cast) until it dawned on me the elk were so close I could hear the bugles from inside the house! I walked out on the deck and 4 different bulls were close enough (in the dark) to be heard from inside the house! Tuesday morning was a replay of Monday, pretty neat-o if you ask me. Wednesday (today) I was up a few hrs earlier at 2:45 to work on a bid. I let the cat out, and walked outside to see if the rain/wind had stopped (been nautical the last few days) and coughed. BAM, cow-call maybe 50yds away! "Holy shait" I said to myself, another one, and another, soon they were all yappin' it seemed. The neighborhood herd was between my place and my neighbors place, combined there's a couple of acres of "pasture" available for them to graze in.

I talked back a little, just enough to re-assure myself that I'm not an elk, but they didn't seem to mind. I could hear them walking around, every time a car drove by all the conversing stopped until the tailights went around the bend. The cat was soon wet from the pasture grass and we both tired from listening to the language we couldn't understand. 3am, I went down to my office to work. And yet I'm thinking of moving away due to implants and political climate...hmmm, times they are a changin'!

Phukk politics!
