That being said, Trump absolutely DOES HAVE the power to force US companies to abandon China. But here's the thing, US companies are already doing that and have been for the past year. Speed of exit depends on complexity of each specific companies' supply chain. All (and I mean all) of the big Tech players are either already moved out or will be in the next 2 fiscal qtrs. Trump knows this and has been providing cover / slow hand play over the past year. He knows their exit status and can & will start turning up the heat once they're mostly clear - as we saw yesterday with him calling Xi the "enemy" for the first time.

We have all of cards here. Our consumer goods prices are going to rise over the next couple of years, so buy what you need to buy now. Past that, we are in the position to CRUSH China.
