In laymen terms, the House investigates, finds evidence and passes articles of impeachment when sufficient evidence is found. The House (think Police) "charges" the suspect. The articles or "evidence" are then sent to the Senate (think Judge) for review. If sufficient evidence is found, the Senate then holds the "trial" for conviction (or not) of said suspect.

In Trump's particular case, here's the essence: The House (police) believes they've found sufficient evidence to impeach Trump and send him to trial. The Senate (Judge) has reviewed the evidence and have told the "Police" to go fvck themselves. The end.

This is all a circus and nothing is going to change. There will be no trial in the Senate. Trump was still the president this morning when we all woke up. He'll still be president tomorrow and throughout the rest of his first term. As it looks right now, he is going to get a second and the Dems may possibly lose the house. Meaning he'll have a super majority. Congratulations Dems?

In the end, all the Dems will ever have to show for this is Trump's 'credibility, legitimacy and reputation' + possibly losing the House. Meaning over the next 5 years, all they'll be able to do is scream "illegitimate!" at everything he does.

That's all that's going to happen here. Again meaning, nothing is going to change. Those are the apples. How do you like em'?
