That saying has been an oxymoron from the get go. If you have to verify there was never any trust to begin with. Therefore, quit with the "trust" BS. There is no trust, and of course you verify. Nations don't have friends (they just say they do because it sounds nice). Nations have interests, and they act to protect and advance those interests. Trust has never had anything to do with this equation.
