4" XD .45 with Buffalo Bore Woodsman hard cast +P hunting loads. Like / near magnum performance out of a standard XD platform. Change out the spring and buffer and you should be good to go. Not the fastest round, but hits like a freight train. I went this route and saved myself a wad of cash instead of buying a 10mm.
