I noticed how happy some of my plantings were just from irrigating (finally). The rain, such as it was (1/4") helped too. I think k from now on, through most rains, that little flow bump will show until the plants get soaked.

I also read somewhere that there had been a shift, overall, to more intense storms. The upshot there was that we will see more runoff and less storage. 2" in 24 hours will be different from the same 2" in 48. We'll get the same amount of rain, or maybe more, but less will be "useful".
